And here it is….the project I’ve been quietly working on. After a long break from my creative life, I’ve found a way to get back to it in a way that fits my “new normal”. It’s taken me a while and I’m sure there might be a few things that will change as I go along, but it’s time to take a deep breath and show you. I’m excited to see where it all goes. Please check out my new website at www.myrosehaven.com It’s been a labor of love and at times crushing frustration at the learning curve, but I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished so far. It’s been a long season of trying to get back my creative side and take pride in my home again. But I’ve been slowly working on a comeback; discarding things I don’t love or bring me joy and leaning into those things that are worth keeping in my life. I have a few projects to share soon, but this corner of my dining room makes me smile so I couldn’t help but share. More good stuff to come!

It’s been a long season of trying to get back my creative side and take pride in my home again. But I’ve been slowly working on a comeback; discarding things I don’t love or bring me joy and leaning into those things that are worth keeping in my life. I have a few projects to share soon, but this corner of my dining room makes me smile so I couldn’t help but share. More good stuff to come!

The actual front of our house hasn’t been our main entrance ever. At one time the road used to come up a different way, but as long as we’ve been here we’ve always used the side porch entrance. This spring I did a very hard prune on the roses that grow on each side of the porch. And then got busy with other garden projects and just forgot about them. Today, I randomly opened the front door to see what I needed to do out there and found this beautiful display. The fragrance was amazing. And this, my friends, is why I call my home “Rosehaven”. 🌹💖

In October I had the pleasure of hosting my sister/friend Brenda @rustandrosesstudio her mom, aunt and my Mother-in-law Mary for a tea to honor Brenda on her birthday. Since the beginning of our friendship my son has always called her “B” and it stuck. It was a wonderful afternoon of being present with each other (that’s why I don’t have pictures of all of us) good food and great conversation. Everyone needs a friend like B. I’m blessed to have her in my life. #friendship #gatherings #teaparty

There is a freedom that comes with deciding to embrace your own style and not worry that others won’t like it or find it odd. Slowly my dining room is coming together and becoming one of my very favorite areas. Wrought iron candlesticks combined with my grandmothers Fostoria glassware and metal snowflake votives make a rich interesting blend and the huge paper snowflakes I made with my granddaughter add a beautiful organic feel. It’s been a hard season of devastating loss for our family. Our son Tim passed away in September after a 30 year battle with Crohn’s disease. I miss him every day, but I have no doubt that he’s is a much better place. I created this vignette with the beautiful little buck under a simple tree, a pinecone candle that we light for him every night, and a few of my favorite photos of him and his brother and sister. It’s comforting to look over, see the flicker of the candle and his smiling face and know that he knows he’s never far from our thoughts and always in our hearts. Grief is such a strange thing to maneuver, but we’re making every effort to celebrate the happy memories and incorporate them into the holidays. Wishing a peaceful heart to everyone dealing with the loss of a loved one. Tell the happy stories. Laugh at the funny memories. ❤️

Finally! Some long awaited blooms on my clematis. She’s been at the other end of the patio for several years now and I’ve seen blu gotten a random bloom here and there. This spring I moved her to the corner of the porch and panted a start off my favorite hop with her. I found 5 of these round candles in the perfect shade of moss green for .50 each and the perfect green dish to hold one for .99. I forgot how much I enjoy baking. Now that I get to be home more than I have my entire adult life, I’m going back and exploring the things that used to bring me joy. It’s a beautiful creamy white that offers me a blank canvas for every seasonal color I choose to add to it.
